I found that CBD and ketosis together worked synergistically coming from personal experience.

There are always mixtures of things that when combined, create something stronger than if those two things were separate.

CBD and the ketogenic diet is like peanut butter and jelly (no toast of course! maybe low-carb?), they’re just not the same when eaten separately.

If you don’t know what CBD is…

Cannabidiol—CBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.

That definition explains it best. It’s from, a website devoting it’s whole existence behind spreading the knowledge on this beautiful compound.

CBD and Ketosis is also used to treat other conditions such as..

  • epilepsy
  • depression
  • schizophrenia
  • PTSD
  • alcoholism
  • ADHD and more.

Anyways, If you’re new to the blog and don’t know what a ketogenic diet is, go to my start here page for more info.

But a quick summary…

The Ketogenic Diet:

A very low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet. By following this eating protocol, your body begins to burn fat as energy rather than glucose (from carbohydrates). Thus, providing several benefits such as mental clarity, stable mood, weight loss, and more.

It seems like no coincidence to me that both CBD and the ketogenic diet are used to treat epilepsy.

There’s a lot of science behind how they work to fix such diseases but one of my focuses on this blog is to keep the information from being too “science-y”.

The cannabis plant has two main compounds —

cbd and ketosis

  • THC (tetrahydrocannabinol ) – THC is what makes you “medicated”.
  • CBD (Cannabidiol) – CBD is responsible for the medical benefits

For this reason, people who are suffering from illnesses will usually opt for a cannabis strain high in CBD.

What are the benefits of CBD?

  • Antiemetic – This means it reduces any vomiting or nausea
  • Anti-tumoral – CBD fights cancer and tumor cells. This is why you see a lot of doctors prescribing marijuana to cancer patients.
  • Antipsychotic – Fights any disorders relating to psychosis
  • Anticonvulsant – It is a very powerful medicine in treating epilepsy and any sort of seizure activity.
  • Anti-inflammatory – fights any inflammation a person has.
  • Anxiolytic / Anti-depressant – combats and disorders relating to anxiety or depression.
  • CBD also reduces the negative effects of THC. This has been coined the term “entourage effect” where combining proper amounts of CBD with THC will produce even stronger benefits than if you were to take CBD or THC alone.
    • CBD will alleviate any anxious or paranoid feeling that you sometimes might get from cannabis.

Both CBD and the Ketogenic Diet help with your body’s…

GABAergic neurotransmitters – Neurotransmitter responsible for motor control, vision, and other cortical functions.

If CBD can cure all of these illnesses and diseases, why don’t doctors just prescribe CBD instead of the normal pharmaceutical drugs that patients are usually prescribed?

Well I don’t have a 100% factual answer, but I do have an opinion.

  1. I firmly believe that many doctors and hospitals don’t turn to CBD to help cure patients because pharmaceutical companies lose MILLIONS of dollars this way. This is the case for cannabis in general and is also the reason why marijuana still isn’t legal in all 50 states. But, it is only a matter of time until it is.
  2. Most of the evidence showing all of these profound benefits you can get from CBD come from animal studies. Since there are very few studies that have been based off human patients, it’s hard for physicians to prescribe CBD to patients with 100% confidence behind it.

Is CBD safe?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s been duly noted that cannabis has reported zero deaths since its discovery.CBD doesn’t contain any of the “psychoactive” properties that make you feel high. It simply only gives you the profound medical benefits stated above.

That being said, you can consume very large doses of CBD and should not feel any sort of discomfort whatsoever.

I personally have taken CBD in large doses and just felt “chill”. Nothing crazy happened. I didn’t want to eat someones face off. But I did feel a weight lifted off my shoulders, any pain in my joints were gone, and was in a generally very happy mood.

CBD and ketosis

Will CBD make me fail a drug test?

Simple answer. Absolutely not.

As stated before, CBD and THC are two separate parts to the cannabis plant. When you are going for a drug test, they are simply looking to see if any THC is in your body. No drug test out there will test you for CBD and it’s 100% legal.

I was actually speaking to the owner of a health food store who carries a lot of CBD and she told me…

“one of the main reasons people don’t buy it is because they think they will fail a drug test. They think it’s unethical. It’s sad to see that some people simply don’t know about such a beneficial compound.”

This is false information.

You are 100% okay to take CBD and it is legal in all 50 states.

Closing Thoughts on CBD and Ketosis

Now why did I try to correlate CBD with the ketogenic diet?

Everything i’m about to say is just from personal experience but I have found a synergistic effect between the two.

I’m just like everyone else out there.

Everyone has anxiety. Everyone is depressed at one point or another. And I sure as hell can’t stay focused on things I need to do that’s for sure.

I have found that the ketogenic diet has helped me tremendously with a lot of the problems I have. I’m no longer super anxious at work and I have this sense of sustained focus when i’m in ketosis.

Both CBD and the Ketogenic Diet help with your body’s…

GABAergic neurotransmitters – Neurotransmitter responsible for motor control, vision, and other cortical functions.

Anytime I’ll eat a bowl of pasta or any type of carb heavy meal, I will be so scatter brained that I couldn’t focus on one thing for more than a minute. Now you may be different but the fact that i’ve been able to pinpoint it down to carbohydrates that’s been causing so many problems to my body is saying something.

Now when i’m taking CBD while in ketosis, I feel extra nice.

It’s like they amplify each other to such great lengths that I honestly feel we were supposed to be in this state at all times.

Think about it…

Our ancestors have been eating a ketogenic diet for thousands of years. It’s only been as of recently have we started to eat all these sugary foods and carb-laden meals. And our ancestors were JACKED.

CBD and ketosis

CBD, is a natural plant. It’s like the icing to the cake.

We actually have CBD receptors in our body already. This means our body gladly accepts this external compound receiving powerful benefits.

That is why I personally believe CBD and ketosis can literally make you feel like a superhuman. Now you COULD be different but I highly doubt it. I suggest you give it a shot and let me know what you think. If you want more tips from me please subscribe below you will certainly enjoy it 🙂

Also if you want to know what ketosis feels like, use exogenous ketones for a couple days.
